  1. Please correct the information below.
The rhinoceros hornbill is not the god of war. Below is a paper which clearly says that Sengalang Burong is the Brahminy Kite and the god of war.

Unity, formalism and structure: Comments on Iban augury and related problems. With a rejoinder
    by Peter Metcalf
In: Bijdragen tot de Taal-, Land- en Volkenkunde 133 (1977), no: 1, Leiden, 63-89

    p64:
"In Iban augury in particular, certain differences have also been
recognized. For example, the relationship between the high spirit/deity
of the omen birds, Lang Sengalang (Singalong/Singalang) Burong,
sometimes simply called Lang (the Brahminy Kite) and the seven
principal omen birds 4 is variable."
    p71
Iban indeterminate number of omen animals subdivided: *
    (i) 'high spirit of the omen birds
    (Lang), also associated with warfare
    (ii) seven principal omen birds
    (iii) others
    p78
    Sengalang Burong is also associated
with success in warfare and prosperity in general.
    p80
Harrisson and Sandin give a slightly different interpretation. They state
that the Hornbill image is used to show it, in an independent sense, as
'Chief of the Birds'. According to them it does not represent Lang, but
quite simply represents a Hornbill, 'the Supreme Worldly Bird, who
welcomes the invisible overhead approach of the God of Birds, Sengalang
    Burong' (1966: 124).
